Lionel diesel and steam trains in action on the ultimate living room carpet layout This uncatalogued set measures approx 19' X 11' , the mainline track curve diameters are gentle 72" diameter O27 from K Line and expansive O96" diameter big O track from Menards, K Line O27 42" diameter path remote switches, most are wired constant power, a couple distant ones are on track power. Lionel 6-16331 steam Railsounds boxcar and Lionel diesel Railsounds 6-17214 boxcar with an Electric Railroad SD diesel sound kit installed after the original Railsounds were removed.
Lionel trains are action packed and us operators can make it happen. Carpet layouts are really quiet and you can hear the different sounds of the engine types, especially the steam engines. Dual motor or lashed up diesel units are a must, plus big magnetraction steamers are required to pull these long trains up the grades with plenty left for more cars. The non magnetraction but big and heavy 675 die cast steamer having the nickel rimmed drivers which is pulling the steam sounds boxcar was also able to pull a nice train around the grades but was close to maxed out.
