Yuwa Japanese Cuisine - Sprinkler Malfunction Flooding - February 18, 2022 - Part 2

On the night of February 18, 2022, a sprinkler malfunctioned in the middle of our dinner service at Yuwa Japanese Cuisine, flooding the entire restaurant and everyone inside with water and causing severe damage.

Just when we were finally starting to recover after an extremely difficult couple of years, our restaurant has now been forced to close for the foreseeable future while we undergo extensive repairs.

The cost of the repairs will be covered by insurance; however, unfortunately our hardworking staff will likely not be covered for any lost wages while the restaurant is closed and they're not able to work. Even if we’re able to fight for partial coverage, it will take a very long time to process, leaving all our staff in a very tough financial situation in the meantime.

We are a family-owned neighbourhood restaurant serving our community for nearly five years as Yuwa (16 years including Zest). We would not usually reach out for help, though our staff are truly a part of our family and we are devastated that the flood has put them in a compromised position.
