The number roll is a Montessori material to develop ability in linear counting, numeral writing and place value. It's appropriate for the child who understands place value (i.e. how to build the number twenty-one -- 21, rather than 12).

Points of emphasis are counting by 1, putting numbers in sequential order, building numerals in the correct order and reading back their work.
