Panama is a very interesting and a colourful city. It is safe if you bear in mind the basic safety rules, and don't flash your belongings in dodgy parts of the city. Stick to main and the most touristy places, travel in a daytime, and you will for sure fall in love in this city.
Having said that, we have walked late at night through the most vibrant and alive parts of Panama City, where locals were enjoying live music and socialising.
Travelling through Panama City can by done on public transport or by Uber. It is cheap and convenient, and the underground stations are safe and clean. So are the buses.
In Panama City we visited Metropolitan Natural Park https://parquemetropolitano.org and it was an experience on its own. This urban park has a lot to offer for sure and is easy to reach.
There are many places to eat as a vegetarian and vegan, and a lot to see as well.
Travelling from Panama City to Playa Venao can take a whole day if done by public transport. We would strongly advise that you wake up early and set off first thing in the morning.
From Albrook Bus Terminal we took a public bus straight to Las Tablas. It cost us just under $10 and took under 5 hours. There is no toilet on the bus however the bus driver stopped half way through the journey for a 30 minute lunch break at a bus station where there was a free public toilet and many places to eat and buy cold drinks and snacks from.
Once in Las Tablas we took a short taxi drive to a Collectivo/minbus station from where we managed to catch a minibus to Pedasi. This journey cost us just over $2 each and we did struggle with our board bag. The lovely driver did not charge us extra, but if we were travelling with no straps we would be unable to make that journey with our board bag with him, as his minibus was small and full of people, with no space for board bag inside the van. Instead, we attached our board bag to the roof of the van and kept holding on to the straps as we took off to Pedasi.
From Pedasi we had no other choice but to take a taxi truck, as the last bus for the day has already departed. There are two buses going from Pedasi to Playa Venao through the day, and the last one is supposed to depart around 2 pm.
Taxi transfer was comfortable and simple, and the driver has been extremely kind and helpful, and dropped us outside our accommodation in Venao. His phone number is captured in the video, so do not hesitate to WhatsApp him in advance to arrange a pick up.
Once in Venao, we managed to reach everything by foot.
