Droopy eyelids, or ptosis, can occur for a variety of reasons. It typically develops when people age, but some individuals are born with the condition or acquire it following trauma or with a neuromuscular disease. Regardless the cause, surgery can be done to correct ptosis, says Raymond Cho, MD, FACS, an oculoplastic surgeon at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center.
