Deaf men may grin and nod while they hear nothing. The Father was speaking to all these people on that day. Few heard the Father then and few hear him today. And far less hear AND learn from Him. People of the world only hear what they want to hear because they cannot help themselves. They love to feed upon lies that please their fleshly desires. That is their bread - food for destruction. And so these people in John 6 do not have a clue what God was even saying to them through Jesus. It is no different today and probably worse. And those such as these are even able to suppose this could be them:

Why do you not know what I am saying? It is because you cannot hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from himself for he is a liar and the father of lies. And because I speak the truth, you do not believe me. Which one of you convicts me of missing the mark? If I speak truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the words of God. For this reason you do not hear them - because you are not of God. John 8:43-47

God the Father was speaking to these men through Jesus on that day (8:16, 26, 28, 38, 47) but they did not hear the Father because they refused to hear Him. They were too preoccupied with hearing themselves and their own fleshly desires - hearing only what they wanted to hear. There is a good chance this could be you. Humble yourself before the Lord and make sure it is not. Stop feeding yourself lies that you want to hear for the sake of pleasing your fleshly desire to make truth whatever you want it to be. It's insanity.
