Night Fishing at Grebe Pond – Hull & District Angling
There’s something special about night fishing—watching the water come alive under the moonlight, the anticipation of a big bite, and the camaraderie that comes with waiting out the night with good mates. Recently, my friend John, his son Noah, and I set up at Grebe Pond, part of Hull & District Angling, for an overnight session, hoping to land some decent carp.
The conditions were promising, with the lake calm and a slight breeze rippling the surface. We got the rods in the water, baited up, and settled in for what we hoped would be a productive session. It wasn’t long before Noah’s alarms screamed into life, and after a solid battle, he landed a stunning 13lb 3oz mirror carp—his new personal best. You could see the excitement on his face, and rightfully so—it was a cracking fish, well-earned.
A few hours later, I had my own bit of luck when my rod bent double, and after a steady fight, I brought in an 11lb 4oz mirror carp. It wasn’t quite as big as Noah’s, but it was still a beautiful fish, and the feeling of success after patiently waiting through the night made it all the more rewarding.
Unfortunately for John, the carp weren’t playing ball, and he blanked this time. It happens to the best of us, but as every angler knows, it’s all part of the game. The social side of the session, sharing stories and laughs under the stars, made up for it.
Grebe Pond proved once again why it’s such a great spot for a session, with quality fish and a great atmosphere. With Noah bagging his PB and a solid fish under my belt, we packed up around 3.30 pm content, already planning the next trip—because as every angler knows, there’s always one more fish to catch.
