STORYLINE:
Protesters gathered in Washington and New York on Wednesday to protest against a possible war with Iraq.
In Washington, members of CodePink for Peace, a women's anti-war group, gathered outside the French, Russian, and Turkish embassies where they expressed their support for those three countries' anti-war stance in the Iraqi crisis.
Co-founder of the movement Medea Benjamin presented a flower bouquet with "veto" written over it, to the French Embassy officials.
Benjamin said France was a real democracy since it listened to its people's call for peace.
Others from the crowd chanted "vive la France."
At the Russian Embassy, press officer Yevgeniy Khorishko thanked the crowd for supporting Russia's position on Iraq.
Later the crowd also gathered outside the Turkish embassy.
