Golden Dome: America’s $175 Billion Plan to Stop Hypersonic Threats?

US President Donald Trump recently approved a massive new missile defense project called Golden Dome, with an initial budget of 175 billion dollars! The system is designed to protect the entire United States from hypersonic glide vehicles, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones using space-based sensors, AI-driven battle management, and multiple layers of interceptors.

Often described as an Iron Dome for America, Golden Dome goes far beyond short-range defense. It aims to cover the entire continental U.S. and integrate with existing systems like Aegis, THAAD, and the Long Range Discrimination Radar in Alaska. Companies like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and SpaceX are already being linked to the program, while international reactions have ranged from skepticism to outright threats.
