The infamous Bhopal gas tragedy, on the night of December 2 and 3 in 1984, killed more than 5000 people after highly toxic ‘methyl isocyanate’ (MIC) gas leaked from the Union Carbide unit in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
It has been 40 years since then and about 20 years of the legal battle for its toxic waste treatment. Finally, the 377 metric tonnes of toxic waste has left the factory for its incineration.
