This was a project to strengthen an existing steel viaduct at Sharnbrook in Bedford. The viaduct has ten spans and each span has approximately 40 tons of steel lifted into place under the existing bridge.
The weight of the beams couldn't be placed on the scaffold and needed to be suspended from a new walkway and existing steelworks at all times, so Murphy had to create an innovative way to put these beams in place.
