UNLOCKING INSIGHTS ON PILES, SOIL LAYERS, SINKHOLES, AND HIDDEN STRUCTURES
This presentation will detail various geophysical methods that can be used to assess subsurface conditions in civil infrastructure. This will include methods like pulse echo to determine pile length, seismic refraction to evaluate soil layers and bedrock depths, downhole sonic methods, magnetic gradiometer, tomography and ground penetrating radar. These various methods can be used to determine the length of piles, the thickness and quality of soil layers, along with the presence of seepage indicating the formation of a sinkhole. These methods can also be used to determine the location and extent of buried concrete and steel structures.
This presentation will provide details regarding how these various methods work and provide project histories showcasing how they have been applied to assess civil infrastructure throughout North America.
