Sunny Adoption - our Golden Princess - 3 month documentary

The Sunny Story:
We adopted Sunny with destructive feather behavior; one of extreme complexity.
I set out to document observations of my own with a species I love dearly.
Here are my notes:
Factors: Spring Season, Molting & Breeding Season, fluctuating temps
March 13 2025 - Sunny in Phx
*sent blood sample to IG Bird Testing genetic advanced bio science for Clinical Analysis to rule out any diseases. *Results were clean ⭐️
March 27 - I pulled Sunny’s broken tail quills to initiate faster growth.
March 31st - I rubbed aloe vera on Sunny’s head and chest and Chips bare chest.
April 5 - Chip plucks his longest tail feathers off.
April 10 - new tail feathers are emerging on both Sunny and Chip.
April 11 - The hottest day in April in Phoenix 2025 was a record-breaking high of 101 degrees
April 14 - Sunny plucked more flight wing feathers
April 17 - Sunny shows to be more at home
April 18 - Chip plucking his chest feathers
April 28 - Chester/Chip/Sunny chose to sleep together in outdoor playhouse.
*Night Low/59° - day high/92°
May 1 - Chip has plucked his whole chest bare and working on legs and back
May 8th - Sunny starting to pluck Chester overnight so I rubbed them all down with Red Palm oil … plucking got worse. I also noticed the fly room stresses Sunny and she plucks in that room
May 9th -Chuck started the Evap cooler for the outdoor aviary
May 11 - highest temp 104°
May 12, Chester, Chip, Sunny are bonding in outdoor patio aviary. Too comfortable getting to know each other, and do not want to go to the tree aviary … They also want Davi within sight of them and they flock call each other if they don’t see him.
May 14 - gave them a small cardboard box to chew on and paper to shred. Chester is thoroughly enjoying it and sunny soon follows the action.
May 15 -Chester has completely shredded the cardboard box so I gave them a bigger one. Now chip and sunny are joining in and Sunny is gently preening both boys today.
May 23rd - I take them to the tree aviary directly after breakfast due to warming temps. They get showered earlier and come in sooner. Rule of thumb for temperature if you’re comfortable, so are they.
Keys: Loads of active engagement and socialization, forging activities, healthy diet, daily showers, playtime outdoors (in comfortable conditions), and consistent routine.
*Golden Conure Facts:
-According to the IUCN, This species has been downlisted from Endangered because its population is estimated to be larger than previously thought. It is listed as Vulnerable on the basis that it nevertheless is estimated to have a small population and it is suspected that it will undergo a rapid decline over the next three generations owing to habitat loss and limited trapping pressure.
-The US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) reclassified the Golden Conure (Gauruba guarouba) from “endangered” to “threatened” under the Endangered Species Act. This reclassification, which occurred in 2020, reflects a positive trend in the Golden Conure’s population.
-This change, requested by The American Federation of Aviculture (AFA), intended to promote the conservation of the species by allowing for interbreeding and inter-state movement of the birds to ensure a healthy and genetically diverse captive population.
