Studios like Naughty Dog and Polyphony Digital achieved legendary status by pushing hardware to its limits, as seen in the PlayStation 2’s Jak and Daxter series, which leveraged the Emotion Engine for open-world fluidity. Modern developers, however, prioritize scalable monetization over technical innovation. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S boast impressive specs, yet their libraries are saturated with live-service titles optimized for recurring revenue rather than groundbreaking design.
