The LAR@MSL comprises a team of mobile and autonomous robots that can play football. This is a complex challenge that involves the design of the robot, its build-up (electronics, mechanics, programming, communication, etc.), its participation in world competitions, continuous competitiveness improvement, maintenance, etc. The project started in 1997 and has had many different students from different departments (most of them from the electronics department), and it is a very resource-consuming project. The robots are completely autonomous, play football in a proper field, follow rules, communicate amongst them, get commands from the referee, use computer vision, the software must run in real-time, move fast, score goals with precision, etc.
