Mortal Kombat 1 On SEGA Mega CD (Scorpion Playthrough) Part 1
480p is recommended for best Quality.
this is a full playthrough with Scorpion on the very hard setting including the fight with Reptile and the complete FMV intro to the game added aswell. I made sure I played this port on very hard seeing as I played the Mega Drive version with Scorpion on very easy, although I really don't care how many of you out there felt disapointed with my Mega Drive MK Scorpion playthrough on very easy, it wasn't uploaded to please viewers, it was uploaded just for simple fun, but this is the Mega CD version on very hard with Scorpion for all you tough MK critics out there who like to whinge, nitpick and point out flaws.
In this port of Mortal Kombat for the Mega CD I noticed that SEGA included the original Arcade soundtrack of the music in digital red book audio on the CD itself rather than simply programming and adding it into the PCM sound chip of the console. This port does suffer from 6 second loading screen times as the CD player has to load the music for each round and fight but it's honestly not a major problem but I think if the soundtrack was put in the PCM sound chip it certainly would've reduced the loading times. All in game speech from the Arcade original is added into the PCM sound chip, more character animation frames have been added onto each fighter, Sub-Zero now has his original Arcade stance which was not in the Mega Drive version, blood is fully added without the need to input a code at the start, the Dullard code can also be done as shown in video and the gameplay is slightly faster aswell than the Mega Drive version.
This is a great port despite heavy criticism from MK fans, the loading screens and music playing on different levels are only minor flaws. It's still no where near as bad and embarrassing as the Super Nintendo version having absolutely no blood and glitchy, crappy gameplay. The thing I find thats the most annoying about this port personally to me is that even while having the Dullard cheat code enabled and turning on the moon flag in the options screen it still doesn't always enable you to fight Reptile on the pit bottom. For some reason the shadows won't appear in front of the moon when you start a game from The Pit stage. Facing Reptile is only possible by starting a playthrough from stage 1 The Courtyard and fighting your way through all the stages until reaching stage 4 The Pit, then you must get 2 flawless victorys without ever using the block button and must perform a fatality at the end. Sometimes though the game will show shadows in front of the moon when you start a playthrough from The Pit stage as shown here.
I think this is a great port of Mortal Kombat myself, the graphics are slightly improved over the Mega Drive's but I still think the SEGA Mega Drive version is the best one ever. The Mega Drive version had the best music in high quality, you just can't beat those drumbeats from Matt Furniss and Shaun Hollingworth unlike all the other ports that had the same unappealing and sometimes shitty mono music, yes i'm also talking about the Arcade original music here. Sometimes later made versions and ports can beat the original. I honestly don't know why you all prefer the Super Nintendo version over this one and the SEGA Mega Drive's? SEGA clearly had the best ports by far and I don't care if I sound biased.
Let the tournanment begin!
SCORPION: Journey and discover alongside the Shirai Ryu clan ninja known as ''Scorpion'' as he discovers that he is the chosen one who has entered the Mortal Kombat tournament seeking out the truth to his mysterious past and who is also bent on revenge against ''Sub-Zero''. It is believed that Scorpion's Lin Kuei uniform is purposely coloured yellow to mock the blue uniformed Lin Kuei ninja clan as opposed to his revenge against them and it is rumoured that he has come back from his damnation in hell as an already ''dead warrior''. Scorpion has not entered the tournament for fame or honour but to seek out answers to his past which is shrouded in total mystery? On the outside he appears to be an evil bad warrior who has no compassion for any human life but on the inside he is really a ''good guy'' at heart who does have a soft spot but hardly ever shows it, he is not truly evil unlike Shang Tsung or Shao Kahn, but he has a mission to unfold and will stop at nothing until he discovers what it is.
