Syrian officials say thousands of civilians are still trying to flee the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces strongholds of Deir Hafer and Maskanah – east of Aleppo. There's a tense standoff in the contested areas after the Syrian army boosted its presence there. The military has set up a humanitarian corridor to get civilians out but the SDF has now set up checkpoints and is turning people back.
