मान्यताओं की मानें तो हनुमान जी का जन्म झारखंड के गुमला जिला मुख्यालय से करीब 21 किलोमीटर दूर आंजन गांव की एक गुफा में हुआ था। इसी वजह से इस जगह का नाम आंजन धाम है। इतना ही नहीं माता अंजनी का निवास स्थान होने की वजह से इस स्थान को आंजनेय के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। जानकारी के लिए बता दें कि इन पवित्र पहाड़ों में एक ऐसी भी गुफा है जिसका संबंध सीधा-सीधा रामायण काल से जुड़ा है। माता अंजनी इस स्थान पर हर रोज भगवान शिव की आराधना करने आती थीं और इसी कारण से यहां 360 शिवलिंग स्थापित हैं।
