At the historic United Nations conference on Gaza and the two-state solution, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan addressed mounting questions on when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would normalize relations with Israel. His message was clear and unwavering: recognition of Israel is contingent on the creation of a Palestinian state.

Prince Faisal stressed that sustainable regional peace and integration require full Palestinian self-determination, an end to the Gaza war, and credible commitments to a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders. He reaffirmed that the Palestinian Authority and the PLO are the only legitimate representatives of the Palestinian people, not Hamas.
