A cover of Noah Cline’s “Sandy River Belle tuning” version. Can’t blame me for trying, and I’ve been trying for a while. Played on his Bottle Gourd banjo #144.
A shade sharper, here tuned c#-A#-D#-G#-A#.
“Billy in the Lowground” actually refers to the protestant William of Orange defeating the Irish Catholic forces at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, ensuring foreign occupation would continue in Ireland up through today. The battle occurred in a river bottom.
