Moving the USS John F Kennedy Aircraft Carrier - Drone Footage 4K

The former USS John F. Kennedy has embarked on its final voyage, departing Philadelphia on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at approximately 10 a.m., en route to Brownsville, Texas, where it will be dismantled.

Following a weather-related delay, the iconic aircraft carrier departed from the U.S. Navy’s Inactive Ships Maintenance Facility in South Philadelphia. Along the way, onlookers can catch a glimpse of the vessel as it navigates the Delaware River, Delaware Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean, according to the Navy.

Commissioned on September 7, 1968, the USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) holds a special place in naval history as the first Navy ship named after President John F. Kennedy and the last conventionally powered aircraft carrier built for the fleet, Naval Sea Systems Public Affairs stated in a news release.

Over nearly four decades of service, the USS John F. Kennedy completed 18 deployments in the Mediterranean and played a pivotal role in securing airspace over the mid-Atlantic following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. In its later years, the ship was utilized for training purposes before officially being decommissioned on August 1, 2007.
