The beginning of arguably Reggae's best known, most-loved instrumentals "The Liquidator" originally this song by written and produced by Tony Scott, then Harry Johnson recognised the huge potential of those addictive rhythms bought the rights from Scott, the rejigged the backing track for release through Trojan records and credited it to the Harry J Allstars. Some argue that the nucleus of the song was first born within Alton Ellis - "Girl I've Got a Date", and Tony Scott drew inspiration from that recording.
A 1969 Harry Johnson instrumental production was Harry first British release, leaving this vocal original outside the Reggae circuit arena and selling little or nothing. Today this vocal original sounds magnificent. Straight out of the golden age of Skinhead Reggae, Tony's first 45 release in the UK his young vocal perfectly enhancing those familiar rhythms.
Top tune, an instant dancefloor pleaser...and hard to acquire in fine clean condition.
