Greetings All,
Yet another adventure in finding out why a gun that should shoot, won't. This Red Ryder had a current production leather seal set installed by the owner and was not generating any compression so it arrived here to see what the what was. Turned out that the replacement leather abutment seal had decided it was more fun to ride up and down the length of the compression chamber with the airtube as opposed to staying put in it's assigned seat next to the abutment washer and compress some air. It's not uncommon for the synthetic seal sets in the pre 1978 guns to "stick" to each other after long periods of storage with no use or oiling but the older leather seals I've seen normally don't have this issue.
Thanks for watching!
