Having escaped Orthanc and the clutches of Saruman, Gandalf races to find Frodo and the doom he is bearing, only to find he has missed their departure from Crickhollow. Pushing on to Bree Gandalf is relieved to hear that the Hobbits left the day before with none other than Strider. Racing to Weathertop he discovers he is being tracked by none other than the Black Riders, that night they attack, and Gandalf must stand his ground or flee - can the lone wizard fend off all nine of the Nazgul? Or will his search for Frodo end in the ruins of Amon Sul with a Morgul Blade?
