This video is a small overview of a very famous Vedic mantra on God Rudra or God Shiva called Sri Rudram or Rudra Prashna. It is found in Krishna Yajurveda's Taittiriya Samhita. It is also found in Shukla Yajurveda. The hymn is an early example of enumerating the names of a deity. Shri Rudram is also famous for mentioning the Shaivite holy mantra Namah Shivaya, which appears in the text of the Śatarudrīya in the eighth anuvāka of Taittiriya Samhita. The Sri Rudram is commonly chanted during the Pradosha time or morning, which is considered to be an auspicious time for the worship of Shiva.
Shri Rudram consists of two chapters (praśna) from the fourth kāṇda (book) of Taittiriya Samhita named Namakam (chapter five) and Chamakam (chapter seven).
