The Me 262 Stormbird has returned to the skies! The smell of kerosene isn’t something we’re usually prepared for, but it was unmistakable as the engines spooled up and propelled the 262 into the air! If we had seen the silhouette of this jet in a dogfight for the first time—the shark-like nose, sleek airframe, swept-back wings, and, once again, that howling engine noise—it would have been mesmerizing. The Me 262 was unlike anything else in the skies over Germany when it entered combat in July 1944!
Many of you asked for a video, and we couldn’t wait to share this incredible moment with you. The aircraft flew multiple times over the weekend and performed exceptionally well! It’s looking very promising that the 262 will be at EAA AirVenture this July.
Would you like to see it in Virginia Beach in the next couple of weeks? Stay tuned for another big announcement!
