Devprayag is a popular pilgrimage destination in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. The town is named after sage Dev Sharma, who led a life of penance at this prayag.
Devprayag is one of the Panch Prayags of Alaknanda River. The other prayags are Visnhuprayag, Nandaprayag, Karnaprayag and Rudraprayag.
Alaknanda river originates from the Satopanth and Bhagirath Kharak glaciers. At Devprayag, it meets Bhagirathi river which originates from the Gangotri glacier. After the confluence at Devprayag, the river is known as 'Ganga'.
Priests of Badrinath temple belong to this place.
Apart from the confluence, other holy place in Devprayag is Raghunathji temple. The temple was established in 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya, with later expansions by Garhwal kings.
