its solid down the center, the lower half holds most of the controls.
there's a stupid hot alnico 8 bucker at the bridge, and it is controlled by the usual les paul switch, but since its only one pickup, the neck is the north coil, center is humbucker, down is south coil. they share the top two knobs for volume and hi/lo pass filter on one pot that i came up with, half way up is "stock", turn it down, it cuts the treble like a normal control, turn it up from half way, it starts cutting the bass, all the way up it goes no load.
the guitar pots are push/push, the vol turns on or true bypasses the sustainer that replaced the neck pickup. the tone pot switches fundamental and harmonic modes of the sustainer.
there's an internal roland gk synthesizer pickup system, complete with its own 13 pin output. there is also a normal 1/4" guitar output, and a second 1/4" dedicated to the piezo bridge so it can do acoustic noises, too. all three can be used at once, tho usually i just use the magnetic and midi outputs, i'll explain why in a second.
so the midi part has its own on board volume to control whatever synth i may be using, and i replaced the gk switches with just one momentary (on)-off-(on) switch, down is sw1, up is sw2 for patch change or whatever. there is also a switch that chooses guitar/both/synth, and finally a switch that lets ya route the acoustic piezo output OR the magnetic pickup output to the synthesizer out, or in the middle, neither. so this way, i can play the acoustic sounds thru the same channel i usually dedicate to they synth live, or if i want to i can also route the clean mag signal as well to the synth out which gives me any combination pretty much of magnetic, piezo, and synthesizer, all controllable from the switching and pot matrix on the front of the guitar.
add in a wigglestick, and there it is. i used it last nite live for the first time, and got thru our whole 90 min opening set with no problems.... and got the whole set caught on video, presently uploading to my / 666pinkster
the finish is rit dyes and then truoil. so its super responsive and crazy resonant.
there's enough going on that we had to route a cavity in the back and make a cover plate, no way i could fit all the electronics in thru the f holes. lol
i THINK that about covers it!
