As part of a project I am working on with a Raleigh frame I got this rusted, worn and tired original Raleigh crankset from eBay for £20, with some sanding using 80/120/180/400/800/1200 & 2000 grits as well as the Dremel to get in the tighter spaces I managed to sand away the rust and damaged chrome and bring the metal to... an acceptable standard.
I then polished it using Autosol Metal Polish on the buffing wheel.
As you can see they haven't come out perfect but when fitted to a bike I'm planning to use as my daily ride they will look great compared to how they were, and who wants to care so much about a bike you want use everyday?
Sanding these with the air sander, Dremel and some hand sanding only took a few hours and well worth the time, as this crankset has been saved and is going to be re-used for many years to come.
Please like, comment and subscribe and keep an eye out for the finished film where I will be fitting these onto my new daily bike.
