This is the Canon Powershot V10 video test. I was lucky enough to get my early hands on it. And I gotta say, it is a fun little camera.

First of all, the build quality. As you would expect from Canon. The camera is well built. Although it’s made from plastic. But good plastic. It doesn’t feel cheap at all. The camera has a little tripod stand. So you can easier put it on table. And I love this idea. Because you don’t have to carry another table tripod. And there is a mic jack for external audio. But it doesn’t have a cold shoe to put your mic. Something that you have to beware of.

The V10 has a 19mm super wide angle lens. It’s great for traveling and vlogging. And the maximum aperture is f/2.8. But due to the 2.7x crop factor. Even though it’s f/2.8 but the separation still isn’t that strong. You wouldn’t be able to see the bokeh unless you go super close to the subject. But once you go super close to the subject the bokeh looks really nice. Also the camera does not have IBIS or lens IS. Only digital stabilization was available. And the IS performance was pretty good. But I had my gimbal for the entire video.

This camera does give you some pro features such as the manual settings and 3 stops ND filter. But it doesn’t have any Canon log picture profile. And not even a customization picture profile that you can bring the highlights down and push the shadows up. So I found it a bit contrasty during the sunny and cloudy day. And there isn’t much you can do in post. But for this price point. I’m expecting it.

This camera does 20Megapixel stills, but it’s JPEG only.

Over all, this is a fun little camera. The quality is nice. And I think the camera is perfect for travel.
