Samira Bensaïd - Bitakat Hob (Famitracker 8-Bit Cover) (Eurovision 1980 🇲🇦)

To anyone who speaks Arabic or can read Arabic script, I hope the romanization in the video isn't too bad! "Bitakat Hob" is the most common transcription of the song title, and the one used in the TV broadcast, so I've renamed the video to that. I originally was going to use the most common transcription around on the Internet (on sites like Diggiloo and Eurovisionworld) but there were some parts that clearly didn't match what Samira was singing, so I modified those. It's a tough language to romanize, I'll say that much.

Anyway, it wasn't much of a question which song I would cover for Eurovision 1980, because this song is a lovely hidden gem that deserved so much better than second last place. It's also the only time Morocco, or any African or Arab country, participated in the contest. The song feels like it came from a parallel universe where Arab countries participated in Eurovision each year, but that sadly isn't the reality.
