Set in 1934, Call of the Sea is a vibrant, love-letter to pulp adventure and Lovecraftian mystery. You play as Norah Everhart, a woman suffering from a mysterious skin disease who travels to a nameless island near Tahiti to find her missing husband, Harry.
Here are descriptions for the first three chapters of her journey:
Chapter 1: 74 Miles East of Otaheite
The story begins with Norah arriving at the outskirts of a lush, tropical island. This chapter serves as a beautiful introduction to the game’s mechanics and Norah’s deep bond with her husband.
The Setting: A sun-drenched beach and a shallow lagoon filled with shipwrecks and colorful flora.
The Goal: Norah must find a way past the island’s locked entrance gates left behind by Harry’s expedition.
Key Moments: You discover Harry’s initial campsite and find a "customized" photo projector. The chapter culminates in solving the Bridge Puzzle, which uses celestial symbols to grant access to the island's interior.
Chapter 2: The Everhart Expedition
As Norah moves inland, the atmosphere shifts from a tropical paradise to a site of abandoned industry and scholarly pursuit. You begin to see the scale of Harry’s operation and the lengths he went to for a cure.
The Setting: A massive expedition base camp built into the cliffs, featuring tents, workbenches, and a complex elevator system.
The Goal: Norah needs to repair and power an elevator to reach the higher plateaus where the expedition moved their heavy equipment.
Key Moments: You find letters detailing the crew’s growing unease. The central challenge involves the Tiki Pole Puzzle, where you must align symbols found in the huts to unlock a secret compartment containing the elevator's missing lever.
Chapter 3: The Vanishing of the Lady Shannon
This chapter takes a darker, more surreal turn. Norah discovers the wreckage of the ship that brought Harry to the island, and the environment begins to feel "wrong" as strange, bioluminescent ooze and ancient stone structures appear.
The Setting: A rocky coast battered by a storm, dominated by the massive, grounded hull of the Lady Shannon.
The Goal: Norah must restore power to the ship’s radio and a massive ancient organ built into the rocks to open a path forward.
Key Moments: This chapter features the Stone Organ Puzzle, a complex musical and symbolic challenge. It ends with Norah experiencing her first major "vision" or transformation, hinting that her illness is more than just a disease—it’s a connection to the island itself.
