Transnistria, or PMR, is a country that does not technically exist. It is only recognized by the three other republics that themselves happen to be unrecognized. Russia also considers Transnistria a part of Moldova, even though it pays pensions to local elders and supplies free gas to the homes of Transnistrians. Besides, Russian peacekeepers are here on a permanent basis. But the real power in the region belongs to the company called ‘Sheriff’. It’s hard to tell who is behind it - oligarchs, police or the criminals.

When you ask the locals how they live here in general, they answer that everything is fine. But for some reason, everyone is leaving. And if they don’t leave, they really want to. Some want to go to Moscow, some to Chisinau, and some to Europe. Today, half a million people live on this small piece of land, located between Moldova and Ukraine. They live or survive. Can Transnistria become a worthy place to live, or will it remain a museum of the criminal 90s - see in my new video.
