Two of Disney’s leading ladies from opposite sides of Asia have strangely similar singing voices. Princess Jasmine from Aladdin (1992) and Mulan from Mulan (1998) are both young women trying to decide what they want and what their place is in the world. They are both birds in gilded cages with many pressures and expectations but they both yearn to be free.
