Starting from Karamay Museum, we drove through several main streets and some characteristic blocks of Karamay City, finally arrived at Karamay Station. The streets in Karamay City are wider and cleaner than most other cities in Xinjiang, but there are so many traffic lights.

Karamay is located in the northwest of the Junggar Basin, about 300 kilometers away from Urumqi. It has a temperate continental arid climate with cold winters and hot summers.

Karamay's economy is dominated by the oil industry and is one of China's important oil production bases. In 1955, large-scale oil fields were discovered here, and then gradually developed into a modern oil city. As of the latest statistics, the population of Karamay City is about 400,000. The city construction is relatively modern, and it is known as the "Oil City" and "Gobi Pearl". Due to the development of the oil industry, it has attracted workers and professionals from all over the country, forming a multicultural integration feature.

The main attractions of Karamay tourism include Karamay Oilfield, Black Oil Mountain, Devil City, etc., showing unique industrial tourism and natural landscapes. As an emerging industrial city, Karamay plays an important role in China's energy strategy and is also striving to achieve economic diversification.
