In 1956, Clinton High School (Clinton, TN) was the first segregated, all-white public school ordered by a federal court to admit African American students following the Supreme Court's 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision ruling public school segregation unconstitutional. The first twelve black students to enroll that year are known today as the Clinton 12. This video provides a summary of these events supplemented by historical news footage.
