We bought this 2018 high mileage Fiat Ducato curtainsider Luton van around 6 months ago for a bargain £3000 plus vat. Curtainsider Lutons are always very good sellers and I thought this truck would sell for £9995 plus vat. It has an impeccable service history, it is ULEZ compliant and is very clean inside and out. Despite this, it hasn’t sold and we’ve had it for around 6 months. The body is smaller than most Luton vans, which is perhaps why no one has bought it.
With the truck struggling to sell as a curtainsider, we had it transformed into a recovery truck by our neighbours RBG Commercial Body LTD, who specialise in the construction of vehicle bodies including recovery trucks and tipper bodies. We have had many recovery trucks built with them over the years. Their service was exceptional, turnaround time quicker than expected and build quality extremely high.
The conversion cost around £2500 including the body, a remote winch and ramps. With the vehicle completely transformed and now owing me £6750 (including the conversion and vehicle preparation costs), it should sell for around £10,000. Hopefully I can make a healthy profit and move this vehicle on to its next home.
