From our bride’s side, this is Paan o Khili (পাণ ও খিলি)—the invitation of the divine to my sister Debosmita and Manna’s wedding. On an auspicious day chosen by our purohit, my mother and five married women began with uludhoni, then arranged fresh betel leaves with areca nut, bound them with a small twig, placed turmeric for good fortune, and marked the leaves with sindur.
They then visited nearby temples, offering the paan–khili to invite the deities and pray for a blessed married life for the couple. 🌿✨
