Over $2 million worth in vintage baseball cards were stolen in a brazen heist at one of North America’s largest cards show in early July. A highly-regarded vintage baseball card dealer and his team were set up at the Dallas Card Show in early July when they all were distracted by what appears to be a team of thieves acting in coordination with each other.
“It’s quite a heist… a little Ocean’s Eleven-like,” says YouTube hobby channel “JunkWaxHero” host Mike, adding “a lot of people are saying ‘well, you got to have security.’ Nobody expects three men distracting your employees so one can sneak in, and the one who snuck in and took the case had been stacking chairs for over an hour to make it look like he was an employee there.”
Global’s Steve Autio breaks down the theft and how it the group of thieves pulled it off.
