The Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant is a 750 acre uranium enrichment facility located near Paducah, Kentucky. The P.G.D.P. was operational and mass producing enriched uranium in 1952 (14 years after the first uranium atom was split). In 2012, it still produces enriched uranium that powers 20-25% of the nation's electricity. The future of the P.G.D.P. remains uncertain.
We are the Kentucky Research Consortium for Energy & the Environment K.R.C.E.E. The Kentucky Research Consortium for Energy and Environment (KRCEE) was created to identify problems and offer real scientific solutions for the cleanup of the PGDP and the surrounding areas.
The KRCEE is comprised of professional staff and faculty from industry and academia.
