The wonderful objects in our Burrell at Kelvingrove: Collecting Chinese Treasures exhibition got us to thinking about the origins of writing, culture, and the art of bookmaking. Bookbinder, Kerry Douglas, inspired by the Silk Road has produced this lovely video. Her use of the Turkish Map fold technique evokes how art, culture, writing, bronze, jade and books travelled from China along the Silk Road. The compartments formed by the book map segments, can stow precious treasures drawings and collectables! Be inspired by turning recycled materials into a beautiful object while learning a wonderful new skill!
