Sega’s Game Gear had promise compared to Nintendo’s Game Boy: Top-quality graphics, colorful screens, and slick marketing.
Yet…The Game Boy sold more than 118 million units. The Game Gear barely moved more than ten million. This begs the question: Why? What happened? Was it the non-existent battery power? The power game library? The lack of third-party support? Sega’s strategic blunders?
In a word: Yes.
