Kenny Barron has been one of my top 5 jazz piano influences ever since I first heard him in 1993.

In this video, I’ll dive into his sublime comping (accompanying) under Stan Getz from their duo album "People Time." I’ll break down a 4-bar phrase from the standard “Like Someone In Love,” which is packed with harmonic gems, and show how you can use it as a springboard for learning and practicing new concepts.

This is the first video in a series called The Core, where I take short transcribed passages and reveal the wealth of lessons hidden within.
