Vinazhika Malayalam Short Film

Vinazhika is a concept that came to my mind as a unique blend of sci-fi, folklore, and mystery thriller. Though I call it a short film, it lies somewhere in between — less than a traditional short film, but more than just a reel.
The story unfolds against the backdrop of medieval Kerala, though this era is never directly shown or referenced. The narrative carries subtle socio-political themes, explored with sensitivity — never shaming or targeting any community.
This work is created in association with Vendakka Universe founder Midhun, where we try to collaborate on different ideas rather than repeating the usual content on the channel — an attempt to break certain prejudiced thoughts and open space for new kinds of storytelling.
The actors are familiar faces you’ve already seen on this channel — this time, we’re trying to explore and highlight their unrecognized talent, giving them space to shine in a new way.
This project was created with a small crew, limited resources, and was shot entirely on a phone. Despite being a low-budget experimental film, it carries a lot of passion, dedication, and effort.
As a filmmaker, I know my storytelling and technical skills come with limitations and flaws, but each step, including Vinazhika, is a way of learning and becoming better. At its core, this is a mimic of my idea — an attempt to bring mystery, folklore, and imagination to life.
