정부대전청사 Government Complex, Daejeon

수도권 과밀 해소와 지역 균형 발전을 위한 정부 시책에 따라, 1990년 11개의 중앙행정기관이 대전으로 이전하게 되면서, 종합청사를 당시 대덕과학단지와‘93 EXPO 개최로 국제도시로 도약을 준비하던 대전 둔산 지역에 계획하게 되었다. 정부종합청사는 도시 축에 상응하는 구심적 공간으로 도시 내의 상징적 역할과 도시 발전을 추동하는 기능을 요구하였다.

As a hub element sitting on the urban axis, the Government Complex was required to perform a symbolic role within the city facilitating the development of the city. The landmark status of the Complex within the urban context is reinforced by symmetrically arranging the towers on the south-north and east-west axes.
