Hey guys… do you have a weekly workout routine that you do. Well I am going to give you the top 5 worst exercises for men over 40. So, make sure to avoid doing these exercises in your weekly workout routine.
You last thing you want to do is injure yourself, especially if you are a man over 40 because injuries can take a while to recover from. Make sure that you are warming up properly before you start your workouts.
Now, let’s get started with the 5 worst exercises for men over 40.
Exercise #1 to avoid… BEHIND NECK OVERHEAD PRESS. There are several things that are bad about this exercise. Most men don’t have that great range of motion for this exercise. Doing this exercise will put a huge strain on your shoulders and neck. Something to do instead would be to utilize dumbbells for an overhead press. Also, having your palms face each other is going to help your joints as well.
Exercise #2 to avoid… UPRIGHT ROW. There are a lot more risks than rewards that come with this exercise. A good substitute for this exercise would be doing a lateral raise.
Exercise #3 to avoid… BEHIND HEAD LAT PULLDOWN. You are supposed to target your back with this exercise, but this exercise will mess up your shoulders and neck. If you want to work your back, I want you to utilize a neutral grip. Do a lat pulldown using two handles instead of the behind the head.
Exercise #4 to avoid… DECLINE BENCH PRESS. If you really want to put more stress on the lower pecs, instead do dips leaning forward or a cable press from high to low. Decline Bench Press is not good for your shoulders.
Exercise #5 to avoid… BENCH DIPS. Bench dips can destroy your wrists, elbows, and shoulders. A close grip pushup is a better exercise to do if you want to add mass to your triceps.
