Meet Natabar Sarangi, a living legend of organic and indigenous farming in Odisha.
Born into a poor family and having served as a school teacher, Sarangi Babu chose a path few dared to take—chemical-free, indigenous farming long before “organic” became a buzzword. Near his village, he built a small yet powerful centre dedicated to traditional paddy varieties, natural farming practices, and ecological balance.
Even today, at 92, he regularly writes thought-provoking articles on organic farming, indigenous seeds, soil health, and environmental protection—many of which get published in leading newspapers.
