From WPTV News Palm Beaches/Treasure Coast - Governor Ron DeSantis signed the bill into law on April 3rd and starting July 1, permitless carry will be legal in Florida, subject to regulations: the firearm has to be concealed, secured, and you must have a valid ID when carrying, a person is justified in using deadly force only if he or she believes deadly force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to themselves or someone else or "to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony", and it is against the law to carry a concealed firearm into elementary, middle or high schools, courthouses, police stations, jails, polling places, government meetings and other restrictions.
The bill also requires the Office of Safe Schools to develop a behavioral threat management operational process and develop a threat management portal, authorizes the state Department of Education to adopt emergency rules, requires the Department of Education to establish the Florida Safe Schools Canine Program.
Same restrictions on gun ownership for people convicted of a felony, dishonorably discharged, mentally defective or involuntarily committed to treatment and/or convicted of a domestic violence will continue to apply.
Openly carrying a gun will continue to be illegal in Florida as a second-degree misdemeanor and Florida will continue to be one of only five states that do not allow guns to be carried visibly.
