The carport at this property was recently converted into a combined guesthouse and artist’s studio. It was enclosed with stud walls but original features such as the hexagonal slate roof were kept.
As part of the vaulted ceiling was enclosed to create storage, French doors were chosen for the main entry to maximise natural light.
We installed Corinthian Doors rebated 2040 x 820 x 40mm Windsor WIN 40 Entrance Doors, $259 each ( corinthian.com.au ).
Featuring clear bevelled glazing, the doors open outwards, and wide butt hinges allow them to be folded neatly against the exterior wall of the studio, to let in air and light.
One door is secured with a flush bolt at the top and base, and the other strikes against it with a rebated mortise lock and handset, to provide a secure entrance.
