For plural nous:

Feminine:

1. If a noun ends in -и or -i we simply remove the ending. For instance:

Актриси (actresses) - актрис
Тварини (animals) - тварин
Сили (powers) - сил

Тещі (mothers-in-law) - тещ
Дині (melons) - динь
Столиці (capitals) - столиць

In the last two instances the singular noun has a soft stem, therefore we keep the ь (диня, столиця)

1.а. For the feminine sing nouns that have stems ending in 2 or more consonants we need to add an extra vowel (just that it sounds better)

Female journalist - журналіСТКа - журналістОк
Bookstore - книгаРНя - книгарЕнь
Female artist - артиСТКа - артистОк
Female singer - співаЧКа - співачОк

Masculine plural:

1. For masculine plurals that end in - и, -і we again remove the ending and add -ів:

Батьки - батьків (parents)
Сини - синів (sons)
Олівці - олівців (pencils)
Лікарі - лікарів (doctors)

2. If a noun ends in -ї, we add -їв:

Водії - водіїв (drivers)
буревії - буревіїв (hurricans)

Neuter Plurals:

1. Generally have zero ending:

Міста (towns) - міст
Імена (names) - імен
Прізвища (surnames) - прізвищ

2. If the ending is - я, we'll have to keep -ь in the end:

місця (places) - місць
сонця (suns) - сонць

However, some Neuter Plural nouns with zero endings require some extra vowels, if their stems end in 2 or more consonants:

вікна (windows) - вікон
стегна (thighs) - стегон

3. The genitive plural has a zero ending. In some types of noun, however, the -ів ending is used

Життя (lives) - життів
моря (seas)- морів

Ending -ей:

1. if a singular feminine noun ends in a consonant, then its plural form in genitive will ends in -ей:

ніч (ночі - ночей),
відповідь (відповіді - відповідей).

Some other feminine nouns ending in -a, -я will take ending -ей rather as an exception: миша (миші - мишей), свиня (свині - свиней), воша (воші - вошей).

2. Another group of nouns that takes -ей in genitive are the nouns that are always used in plural: діти - дітей, люди - людей, груди - грудей, двері - дверей, кури - курей, etc.

3. Masculine nouns, that take ending -ей: гроші - грошей, коні - коней.

4. Neuter: очі - очей, плечі - плечей
